Are you familiar with this type of urinal? A lot of us guys do. Even the ladies out there should at least know what it’s for.

So there’s one, or rather a few in my office as pictured on the right. This is an old, analogue type that has no electronic sensor to enable it to flush automatically when a guy is done with what he’s there for and moves away. It probably works with some mechanical timer or some such, I just never really have the time to actually stand there with a timer to know exactly how often it flushes.

What really amazes me is that this thing doesn’t behave like an analogue should. It’s suppose to flush at regular intervals, or maybe even irregular intervals. Say, whenever the water reserve is full - which can be affected by the water-flow in the pipes, or something like that.

But not this one - it seems to know when I’m there as almost 10 out of 10 times I use it, the urinal starts flushing the moment I stand in front of it. And I’ve been working here for almost 5 years now. Or maybe it's my very good sense of timing. Dunno... Cause there are many times when I'm there putting on a tie and the thing never flushes

Could it be just simple coincidence? Or maybe a synchronicity?
