Shashinki.com
Another good shopping experience, this time online at Shashinki.com.
I've been aware of this website for a while and have been drooling over many of the photography items they sell. Just never brought myself to order anything - all my photography purchases have always been offline.
But last Thursday I had one of those moments of impulse online buying. It was early in the morning at the office, going through my RSS feeds and somehow ended up at Shashinki... Before I knew it, I've placed an order for 2 items i.e. a camera strap and spirit level for a total RM63 - cheap and free shipping, which is why the decision was easy.
37" LCD TV
I finally succumbed to the one thing that has been tempting me for the past 4 years or so... an LCD TV ![]()
It was the Toshiba Regza 37AV500E, a 37" LCD TV and I got it for about RM2.8K at SS2. I almost paid RM600 more at the mall i.e. form one of the large electrical/electronic chains. Luckily a fortuitous phone call to a friend prevented me from doing so - I got the hell out of the mall and checked-out the shops at SS2 PJ instead. I was told to be careful and really make sure that the TV was actually a new unit. No problem since this was a cash-and-carry purchase. Unlike CRT’s, these babies are flat(!) and they slide easily into the backseat of even a small car.
Why Toshiba? And not LG, which the latest model have more features and RM100 cheaper? Well, there are many reasons and I won’t dwell on them here. Suffice to say that it was a personal preference and not much else.
Woot! The movies never looked better! ASTRO and the other terrestrial broadcasts look shitty but still acceptable. Especially now that EURO 2008 is underway, I'll take this one over the old tube any day. But forget ASTRO, most of their programming suck arse anyway, and the CSI's are almost 1 year late! It's the AVIs man... that's where it makes the most difference. It's time to dust-off my LOTR Director's Cut DVD collection.
When I think about it, it took me 4 years of research before actually plunking down the dough, so I should be able to classify this as an informed buy, right? Heheh... that depends. A friend actually remarked about the timing of the purchase - just a few days after the petrol/diesel price increase.
But I'm happy so there...
